The Open Group is a global consortium that enables the achievement of business objectives through technology standards. With more than 900 member organizations, we have a diverse membership that spans all sectors of the technology community–customers, systems and solutions suppliers, tool vendors, integrators, and consultants, as well as academics and researchers.

The Open Group has launched industry-transforming standards initiatives in many industries and areas, including energy data management, avionics, sensors, industrial process control systems, and sustainability, in addition to our numerous IT and technology standards activities.

Enterprise IT organizations will know us as the developers of popular standards such as our TOGAF® EA framework, UNIX® standard, and Open FAIR™ standard, each of which also has a certification program.

Toolkit Tuesday

The Open Group has curated a comprehensive collection of essential Standards, Frameworks, Reference Architectures, Tools, Models, and Guides for Architects, bringing together a wealth of industry expertise in one centralized resource. What unites these resources is their origin from distinguished experts within their respective fields, employing a thought leadership approach and adhering to industry best practices to precisely address the diverse needs of their audience.

With a rich history of developing and sustaining technical standards and tools, The Open Group takes pride in its contributions to the Enterprise Architects community. These resources prove invaluable on both an industry-wide scale and in alignment with specific vertical sectors.

Many of these tools come with certification options, allowing practitioners to validate their skill set and providing recruiters with a reliable framework for the hiring process. This assurance is further reinforced by our open badges program, ensuring transparency and credibility in the recognition of skills and qualifications.

About The Open Footprint™ Forum

Operating under the auspices of The Open Group, the Open Footprint Forum (OFP) provides a unique platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and problem-solving. The Forum offers a range of activities and deliverables, including working groups, webinars, and white papers, aimed at advancing the understanding and adoption of emissions data standards and solutions.

The  Open Footprint Forum aims to address the practical challenges faced by companies in measuring, managing, and reporting their GHG emissions. The OFP Forum brings together a diverse range of stakeholders, including industry leaders, policymakers, NGOs, and technology providers, to develop innovative solutions, establish best practices, and create a unified approach to GHG emissions reporting. The work of the OFP supports leading GHG accounting standards and software applications by providing a universal data standard that may be broadly adopted to facilitate data transferability and integrity.

The standards work of the OFP sits alongside of and is complementary to standards and frameworks from WBCSD (PACT framework), GHG Protocol, ISSB, GRI, PCAF, and others, and we are in fact working with most of these organizations to ensure alignment.

Get Involved

To get involved in the OFP Forum, interested parties can become members of The Open Group, which provides access to the Forum's activities and resources. Members can join working groups, contribute to the development of emissions data standards and solutions, and engage with other industry leaders to share best practices and insights.
